THOSE LITTLE DONUTS - EMPLOYMENT POLICIES
Please review the following policies. You must be aware of them prior to starting work. Please note these policies are also subject to change. They are intended to help us - and you - enjoy a fun work experience. If you have any questions or concerns regarding these policies, please contact your supervisor.
General
- Be friendly and professional towards customers, supervisors and co-workers at all times. Rude behavior, obscene or offensive language, and negative attitudes will not be tolerated.
- Be on time for your shifts and when you return from breaks.
- Remember that you represent not just Those Little Donuts, but also your city as well.
- Please direct any customer questions to your supervisor. Also alert your manager to any problems or misbehavior that you notice.
- REMEMBER THE GOLDEN RULE: How do you want to be treated by your supervisor and coworkers? As a customer, how would you want to be served?
- PRODUCT QUALITY: Always watch the quality of donuts you are serving. If you wouldn't buy them, don't sell them. Alert your manager immediately if you notice donuts that do not look "ideal."
Uniforms & Dress Code
- For your safety, long pants (no synthetic materials, like track pants) and comfortable shoes that cover your whole feet (no open-toed shoes or sandals) must be worn at all times.
- Your uniform is your responsibility and must be kept clean every day. Hats must be worn (straight, not backwards or sideways) at all times while in the trailer.
- If you lose or forget a shirt or cap, you will be charged for a replacement and must obtain a replacement before the beginning of your shift.
- In cases of hot weather, capri pants that come below the knees are permissible. Shorts that come above the knee are not permitted. Skirts are never permitted under any circumstances.
- Hair must be tied or pinned back. Jewelry should be kept to a minimum.
Health & Safety
- In addition to the dress code, because we work with hot oil you are not to handle any tools, implements, the donut machines or any other devices unless explicitly authorized by your supervisor.
- Where applicable, you may be required to attend a food safety certification course prior to beginning work. If you already have this certification, please make that clear to your supervisor. These courses are free-of-charge and available from your province's health authority.
- Where applicable, young workers (12 to 14 years old) may be required to fill out a provincial authorization form signed by a parent or legal guardian. These forms will be made available to you at the time of hiring.
- You must wash your hands in the trailer whenever you enter the trailer and before you begin serving customers.
- If you are sick, you may not be allowed to work that shift. We cannot accept the presence of contagious illnesses in a closed food environment.
- Observe and obey all instructions from your supervisors.
- We are not responsible for lost or stolen valuables.
Employment Rules
- We adhere to provincial Labour Standards and policies, and literature on such is available if you are not sure what your rights and duties are.
- Please note that unless prior notification is made to your supervisor and authorization is received from them, weekends (Friday, Saturday and Sunday) are mandatory. You must be available at some point on these days to work
- Insubordination, missing a shift without notice, or poor performance may result in termination.
- If you quit or your employment is terminated, you will be paid minimum wage according to your province and will receive your wages by cheque ten (10) business days after the end of the fair, in accordance with Alberta Labour Standards. Wages are based upon seniority, availability, and the base minimum wage mandated by your province.
- Theft, including theft of other people's property, will result in automatic termination.
- If you are running late or must miss a shift, you must call your unit supervisor immediately. You must identify yourself if texting.
- If you must miss a shift, we require no less than 24 hours' notice. If we do not receive this notice, we may not be able to accommodate your request.
- Your transportation to the fair is your responsibility. We will not reimburse transit, fuel or taxi expenses.
